Connector Subsea Solutions (CSS) has completed the comprehensive testing of its 28″ MORGRIP® 3000 Series Hybrid Flange Adaptor, marking a significant achievement in the project delivery scope. The testing verified the connector’s strength, sealing capability, and overall reliability under demanding subsea conditions. This milestone reinforces CSS’s position as a trusted provider of high-integrity pipeline connection solutions for offshore projects worldwide.

Testing Methodology and Validation Process

The MORGRIP® connector underwent a structured testing programme to confirm full compliance with performance and safety requirements. Tests included a hydrotest pressure of 261 barg maintained for eight hours.

A hot jack test was also conducted to apply internal pressure beyond the connector’s design limits, ensuring that the system maintained its integrity even under extreme load. The results confirm that the MORGRIP® connector has an additional built-in safety factor.

Results and Completion of Scope

All testing activities were completed successfully, with the MORGRIP® connector meeting every acceptance criterion. With the hot jack test finished, the qualification scope is now closed. This marks the end of a technically successful phase and confirms readiness for the next steps of the project.

The programme did more than prove performance. It sharpened our approach for what comes next. The team refined procedures validated contingency steps and aligned communications so that lessons from the test bay carry straight into field practice. The outcome is a clearer path from activation to verification, with firmer control of time and quality.

“The depth of this campaign has strengthened our playbook,” said Mark Austin, Senior Project Manager. “We now have proven responses for variations we might see offshore, which means we move faster, with fewer surprises, while keeping safety at the centre. The testing has given us confidence and the discipline to apply it.”

Installation trials at CSS’s Facility in Wednesbury, UK

05 // Extended testing utilising the MORGRIP® long stroke tensioners

CSS conducted connector installation trials at the Wednesbury facility using the new CSS long stroke tensioners. The client and the marine contractor joined these sessions to confirm procedures, refine the sequence and align roles ahead of mobilisation.

CSS designed and built the long stroke tensioners in direct response to client feedback. By increasing the available travel per cycle, they shorten the time needed to activate each connector offshore. The result is a simpler sequence, faster turnaround and lower overall campaign cost. CSS remains committed to work closely with the client and the marine contractor to support a successful offshore campaign.

Reinforcing Client Confidence in Large Connector Installations

The successful completion of the MORGRIP® 28″ connectors testing represents a key step in strengthening client confidence for the eventual installation and long-term operation of large diameter connectors.

CSS completed all testing, packaged the connectors, and is preparing them for shipment. This achievement underscores CSS’s technical capability, precision engineering, and commitment to delivering field-proven subsea solutions.
