Weld Seam Removal
Product group: Subsea Tools

Deepwater pipeline repair or subsea tie-ins can only be achieved through the correct interfacing of remote operated pipelines repair equipment. We deliver complete lightweight and compact remote operated Pipeline Repair Systems (PRS) for subsea rigid risers, flowlines and pipelines. These items can be supplied separately or as a complete package for remote deepwater repair, enabling the complete system integration prior to mobilisation.

Product Description

The weld seam removal tool is a module that can be added to our subsea coating removal tool. Where the coating removal operation will expose the bare pipe, in some instances the weld seam can provide an element of risk to a pipeline repair of interface. This tool enables the safe, controlled removal of both the longitudinal and circumferential weld seams

The main concern is when deploying a connector or clamp to repair or tie-in a pipeline. Both interfaces rely on the sealing to the OD of the pipe using elastomeric or graphite seals. Designed to seal evenly around the pipe, the weld seam can pose a risk to the operation. To mitigate this risk it is always recommended to have the weld seam removed prior to installation.

Suitable for both horizontal and vertical application, our tools are supplied with buoyancy to make them light weight and easy to control in harsh environmental locations. Although designed for deepwater application, the tools can easily be operated by diver, reducing dive schedules. This provides both commercial advantages as well as increasing safety.

As a fully remote system the tool ensures safe, reliable, controllable and efficient subsea operation up to 3000mwd while also providing the very best possible surface finish which is qualified for use with MORGRIP Clamps and Connectors.
