Major 32 ” MORGRIP® Diverless Pipeline Connector Project Completed

CSS successfully completed a major 32 ” MORGRIP® Diverless Pipeline Connector project. Learn more about our innovative pipeline solutions.

Connector Subsea Solutions (CSS) recently achieved a significant milestone with the successful design, build, testing, and shipping of two 32 “ MORGRIP® 3000Ri Diverless Pipeline Connector Couplings.

Now commissioned and ready for deployment, these advanced diverless connectors provide a trusted contingency solution for critical offshore trunkline repairs, ensuring operational integrity for the client when it matters most.

Innovative Solutions for Deepwater Challenges

MORGRIP Diverless Connector ready to be tested, and fitted with ROV tensioners

The diverless MORGRIP® connector simplifies complex deepwater pipeline repair operations. Unlike traditional methods, this advanced solution operates fully remotely, eliminating the need for diver intervention and making it ideal for safe deepwater installations.

John Spain, Sales Director mentioned “MORGRIP® design features multiple systems that ensure right-first-time installation, refined, developed, and proven through MORGRIP’s unique history of successful diverless operation.”

This diverless installation capability meets the operational requirements of deepwater operation but the coupling format also reduces the need for specialist installation equipment – removing for example, the need for highly complex subsea flange assembly tools.

MORGRIP® Diverless ConnectorBuilt for Large-Diameter Pipelines

MORGRIP® Diverless Connectors are specifically designed for large-diameter pipelines, offering both strength and durability. Its robust construction ensures it can withstand the deepwater installation process and maintain operation for a minimum of 30 year design life environments, making it a reliable choice for critical subsea operations.

Precision Testing for Unparalleled Reliability

MORGRIP Diverless Connector positioned on test bed for rigorous FAT Testing

The Diverless MORGRIP® Couplings were rigorously tested at CSS’ UK facilities. The connectors underwent comprehensive pressure testing:

  • External Seal Pressure Test: Conducted on each circumferential seal using both nitrogen gas and water as test media .
  • Internal Hydrotest: Spanning 8 hours at 264 barg, with a 10 000 l water fill in the test setup.

These stringent tests, meeting the requirements of DNV recommended practice and the specific requirements of the client ensure the connectors meet the highest standards of operational safety and durability.

A Global Solution for Subsea Challenge

For over 35 years, MORGRIP® connectors have set the industry standard for reliability, and cost efficiency—with thousands of successful installations worldwide and a proven leak-free performance in service. Built on this legacy, the MORGRIP® Diverless Connector continues to deliver unmatched dependability for offshore pipeline repairs.

When reliability counts, MORGRIP® delivers!
