Awarded prior to the UK lockdown in April this year, the project to deliver a MORGRIP 24in Pipe End Connector was able to remain on track for testing and delivery within September 2020, 2 months months prior to the offshore mobilization.
Designed, built and tested in accordance with DNG-GL Type Approval to ST-F101/ RP-F113, the MORGRIP Pipe End Connector is a means of permanent pipeline repair. This unit, to be used for a North Sea tie-back project, will be used to interface the new wells back to existing infrastructure. This is achieved by terminating the pipe end of the existing pipeline with a flange or hub of the operators choice.
Although a very typical application for a MORGRIP Connector, the challenge faced during this project not only included the complete relocation of the UK Operation, but the unprecedented disruption caused by the Covid-19 outbreak and the impact this had on the operators, customers and supply chain.
Despite these challenges the project was concluded within the projected timeframe and completed the final testing 21st September 2020. The unit will now be refurbished, packed and shipped for offshore installation before the end of the year.
