Successful 16″ MORGRIP® Pipeline Connector Installation in North Sea

Connector Subsea Solutions (CSS) have successfully installed 2 off MORGRIP® 16” 3000 Series Flange Adaptors in the Danish sector of the North Sea.

Back in May last year, the connectors underwent FAT and hydrotesting in our workshop facility in Walsall, UK, and were delivered on schedule.

Zero pressure loss at 155bar was achieved over an 8-hour hold period during hydrotesting of both connectors.

Preparing the connectors for an 8-hour pressure test and performing the test in one working day presented logistical challenges. However, CSS technicians showed great flexibility working extra hours, including weekends, to ensure build and testing went smoothly and on schedule.

Read the article for more information and images of the testing in the workshop.

The installation took place in April 2023, with CSS technicians Mark Fisher and Chris Davis deployed offshore for 17 days to assist with the installation.

Installation time was less than 6 hours per connector – a great achievement with superb preparation of the connectors, diving proficiency and good visibility all contributing to the smooth operation.

Another successful MORGRIP® design, build, test, supply and install from CSS and outstanding effort from our team of technicians and engineers.
